As the Lake Superior Unit Manager with
Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources Office of Great Waters, Cherie Hagen collaborates with partners from federal, provincial, tribal, state and local governments, universities, and nongovernmental organizations to identify shared goals and actions to protect and restore the Lake Superior ecosystem and communities. She’s oversees implementation of the lake-wide action and management plan to assess, restore, protect, and monitor ecosystem health of Lake Superior, including implementation of the
St. Louis River Area of Concern Remedial Action Plan to address impairments. Cherie also engages in regional and international Great Lakes management and policy involving the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement. She joined the
Great Lakes Coastal Assembly in 2016 and is currently serving as a co-chair, as part of this collaborative she’s valued the opportunity to learn from and share with colleagues working across the Great Lakes and embrace a shared vision for Great Lakes coastal systems.
