About me
Dr. Shannon Seneca is an environmental engineer that is focused on healing the human relationship with the natural world. In 2023, Dr. Seneca joined the Indigenous Studies Department at the University at Buffalo as a Research Assistant Professor. She spent the prior two years working at the Center for Indigenous Cancer Research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center after spending many years with the Seneca Nation Health System as the Environmental Health Director. Dr. Seneca’s research is focused on the health and well-being of Indigenous peoples through the advancement of Indigenous knowledge systems and ways of knowing. Most of her work examines fate and transport of contaminants in our environment and the subsequent analysis of exposure and health risk.
